MWR Racing filter development plans

I have started development work with MWR Racing air filters, which have been used in bikes in a number of successful racing series, including the Isle of Man TT.
The design, using plates above the low-density foam element, allows maximum air flow, minimum resistance, and gains of 6-7BHP with corresponding torque gains.

The filter should be able to be used with tuned and standard engines, and would mean that the airbox lid could be disposed of, but the flow problems associated with taking off the airbox lid would not be experienced.

We need to be able to gauge how much interest there is for one of these, before MWR will be willing to continue development work.
Please have a look at the VTR1000 UK site to see what you think.

And register your interest on here if you would lie to be first in the queue.

Thanks,
Tony.mon (VTaRse on here- they wouldn't let me use that name on the VTR site!)

To find the info, I've posted what we propose on the VTR forum, have a look at:
VTR1000.org
and search for the thread:
MWR Racing filters
in the Bike Chat section.

Here you go gents, a pic of what these filters look like. They are said to work extremely well (based on what I have read).

Here is a link to their Web site:
http://racingairfilters.eu/?ids=kop1

and another to Tony's original post on the vtr1000.org site:
http://www.haymouth.co.uk/phpBB3/vie...66300f3ec8e147

Let's get some folks involved and get this thing off the ground......

Interesting... I wonder. If this sits significantly lower than the stock lid would it make a VFR tank retrofit easier?

Already mentioned on the VTR.org site - sounds quite possible

Shoot you could get an extra gallon out of the tank if that thing works.

Edit: Wow I'm late to the game with that idea...

Well, looks hot, but has it been tested? What about in a good hard rain?

Ha, well what was that wet stuff soaking me Saturday morning during my run? But you're right. I don't live in Texas because I like rainy days, lol. I live here for the 12 month riding season.

I'd imagine they're pretty water resistant if they develop/test in the UK.
I'm VERY curious about pricing, I don't see prices on the website for any filter. I agree, would definitely add room for the fuel tank upgrade. I wonder how it'd work with stacks also.

They've landed, and here's a pic or two with a bit more detail:

Side view, showing height. Leaves plenty of room for either a bigger airbox below or a bigger tank above....

View from below: full area foam element, so no probs with flow, hopefully.

And you can't deny they look good; laser cut logo and good quality.

Can't comment on cost yet; I'm nothing to do with selling them, that's down to the local authorised wholesaler.

But it looks pretty competitive, from UK pricing.

All depends on what gains you get.
And the reduction in intake noise is good, if you get out on tracks with a noise limit as we have on most tracks in the uk.

so how you install it?
with the alu plate facing the engine or the tank?
MWR say it must always face the engine, while the pics show the oppisite

my bad didnt catch that one I got stuck looking at the pretty filters from the first link ...

anyways, I figured it would need some serious dyno tuning giving all of the failed attempts of modifying the airbox that drastically that weve seen all too much of...

I think its a good design and I hope they can sort it out on the dyno because if this amount of air can be utilized positively it would be a great step up in our attempts to get more air and fuel into our gas gulpers in a reliable way.

i just stole the latest pic from their website, hope they dont mind....

the MRW looks awesome, but it appears they have a similar prob like running with a open lid, might be tricky to dial it in...
