Master Cylinder sight glass replacement

Has anyone replaced the sight glass in either the clutch or brake master cylinder? This question won't apply to SuperHawks unless you have a 2005 model, but most of us have or have had other bikes with integrated reservoirs.

There seem to be two options. One, replace just the "glass" and RTV in a new one made of glass or lexan or something clear sourced from the interweb. The other option is to replace the whole sight glass assembly including the silver metal part in which the "glass" is seated. This second option is a press-fit solution and comes with a rubber o-ring and is available on eBay. What I've found on eBay is 18mm and I haven't measured anything yet, but I ass-u-me this is the universal size in most all rice burners.

So, has anyone done this and can you recommend for or against either of these solutions or offer a third, new and improved solution?

Thanks.

I had to change the clutch master cylinder reservoir after a crash. I just bought Honda part 22887-MBB-006. If I recall correctly, it's retained by a single screw. No RTV needed. You may not need to change the O rings. Easy.

Thanks comedo, but that's the oil cup used for 98-04 SuperHawks with remote reservoirs. I'm changing both the clutch and brake master cylinders on my 99 SuperHawk for integrated reservoirs. CBR600F4i brake and 2005 model SuperHawk clutch. I would like to freshen the sight glass in one or both. This is what I'm referring to.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm sorry that my response was of no help to you.

Well, it helped clarify my post, so there's that. Thanks for playing.

Only the 2005 SuperHawk had integrated reservoirs, but, like I said, most of us ride or have ridden other bikes which may have had integrated reservoirs, so I'm hoping someone out there has some experience with this and can offer an opinion.

I read recently of someone replacing the glass with a watch-glass crystal.

Thanks. Looks like a good source if I go just replace the glass route.
