Long mileage rider
 

I ride my bike about 100 miles a day... mostly highway.

I am curious, I have plenty of power on the bike, and stock gearing, etc.. it is about time to change the chain.. first off, I would like a bit better gas mileage (aka, lower RPM's at higher speeds)

I was thinking a rear sprocket would do the trick, but not sure what to get, or where to get it, any recommendations? (Part number, site to order from)

Second, I am going the replace the chain at the same time, same thing, any parts to recommend? I'm not sure of the type of chain that I need when I put the new sprocket on, I'm guessing this is an easy question for a lot of you. :)

I find the stock gearing to be sufficient. The Superhawk just doesn't really get super gas mileage. If you really want the marginally higher efficiency, lower the number of your rear sprocket teeth (from 41 to 38...or something like that).

I've been pleased with my RK chain and Vortex sprockets. If you are sticking with stock sizes, your chain is a 530 120-link chain (sprockets should be 530 also...not the # of teeth designation). You *could* also switch a 520 chain, but you will need matching front and rear sprockets (that are also 520).

I don't know how true this is (15+ miles per gallon?!?!?), but I like the idea. I don't think you'll be gaining that much in terms of fuel efficiency though.

Stock is 102 links. Go with the 520. Lighter, less friction, and strong enough for our bikes.
