When hard parts start to touch you're leaning too far and most "modern" sportbikes will catch a footpeg or something else hanging low before the tires will let go with a competent rider aboard. (thats why they put the "hero sliders" on the bottom of the foot pegs, to let you know you're too far over BEFORE you go so far that you lose it because the foot peg will move, but the next part you touch wont and you will go down) I used to drag hard parts on my 82 CB900 all the time and pulled the rear end off the ground and lowsided before I reached the end of the tires grip. (I was keeping up with a 600rr and should have known to back off a bit but was too busy patting myself on the back for keeping up with that old of a bike) |
the pegs scrape first, then the exhaust (if stock) then the header on the right side...
I suppose if you want to know the maximum theoretical angle you could compress the suspension fully somehow and then measure the angle to the pegs on either side.... |

Great picture but shouldn't your head be over the other side. You would not have to lean the bike so much but turn just as fast.

(:-}) Its not me, I would never wear a helmet that said "wild child" on the front. found it on google. Also, from the position of the front wheel, and his whole body coming back topside looks like he's about to stand the bike up exiting the corner which would explain the head to the wrong side. I havent done a track day yet with the hawk and I dont have people taking pictures of me when i ride like a bat out of hell. |

My wife wasn't very enthused when I told her I wanted my ashes spread on as many of the 318 curves as possible. That tells you what kind of experience I had. :)
Thread jack over.... |
