Idles fine runs like crap
Hey guys, im new to the forum. I just recently bought a 1999 996 superhawk and it runs fine idling but when you are riding it starts to spit and sputter, has no throttle response and dies, restart it and runs fine for a min or 2 then it does it again, ive taken the carbs off, cleaned thoroughly and float levels are fine, seals, jets, etc... i just can't figure it out. the bike only has 8800 miles on it and i know it shouldn't be anything major. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check the little bitty hose on the back of the petcock on the fuel tank. There should be two large fuel hoses that run to your carbs, and a little vacuum one on the BACK - not bottom - of the petcock. The other two hoses are vent/drain hoses...

Does sound like the symptoms of PVLIR.... ;)

7 is right, check the vacuum line, its probly on the wrong spot so its not getting gas. Everyone did this at some point.

Where is it supposed to be? So I can know if it is in the wrong location.

Wicky, you just put up a link looping right back to this very thread. Very twilight zone.

It directly links to post no. #2 by 7moore7 in the thread just in case SPEED DEMON1322 missed the answer to his 1st & 2nd question ;-)
