I need help in Mn on my 1999 superhawk its broke
 
ok so i moved down to st louis and right before i left i was gonna ride my bike down but i got $ blocks away when i lost all power (lights,motor,dash,everything) with no warning now im back up here and was looking into it found out my main fuse keeps blowin on my starter relay and was woundering if theres someone in the Twin Cities Minnesota area that knows about these bike that would mind helping someone out please i was talking with a dealer and they seem to think its a wire in my harnes and im needing to get back on the road to st louis,mo they tested my starter relay and said more than likely its not my R/R please help a fellow rider you cane reach me at bjulius01@gmail.com or 651-734-3255cell ill be in coon rapids tomorrow where the bike is working on (tuesday aug 9th 2010)

it sounds like an R/R.... mine blew the main fuse while it was going bad, it was not 100% bad yet. some electronic things still functioned, but not correctly.

sorry I am in southern mn but know next to nothing about the electrical system. seems like they could easily swap in a different RR to at least check it since its such a simple thing to do. they should also be able to test for a short pretty easily.

I'm in the Twin Cities area (Chaska, in the SW suburbs) and I have a pretty good understanding of electrical systems on these bikes. I have done the r/r swap. And like others have said, I think that is probably what you'll end up needing to do. Problem is I've got a very tight schedule right now. I have something going on every night this week and I'll be in Brainard for the NHRA nationals this weekend. If you can wait till next week I'd be happy to help.

Caveat

The male and female ends make quite cozy after 10 years. I had to cut the locking clip off my stock one to replace it.
