How do you remove the shock nut?

Evening gentlemen,

I am trying to slide in a shock spacer.
If I didn't know better I'd say the nut is welded on.
It looks like there's a metal bead -in between the bolt and the nut- in the right side of the nut photo.

Has any anyone experienced this?

nope, start cranking on it.

That's a lock nut.

I am here cranking now ...and it is freaking tight.
I'll try to look up the torque setting.
It's got to be on there at over 100 pounds.

Edit: I put some mouse milk on there. We'll see.

Got it...thanks.

It was over torqued.

If it was ever worked on in a shop, some idiot probably installed it with an impact.

Glad you got it.

I put a 3mm spacer in there.
They are on Ebay UK site for a few bucks.

I don't want to go too radical since I haven't changed my springs yet.
Don't want a tank slapper like on my 2000 Honda 929...that thing was spooky until a damper was put on.

The fork preload is sagging okay but they are cranked all the way in.
That's next on my list.

Thanks for your help.
Love the forum.
