Honda HP4 Oil change kit.. less than advertised capacity?
Hey,
Dont know if its the HP4 kit or the bike but just did an oil change and im not seeing the correct level in the viewing glass. Did the usual thing of running the machine home from work, put up in pit stand, opened the filler, dropped the plug, pulled the filter and bleed the thing for an hr. Came back and refilled with the full 4lt in the kit plus another 1lt.. so a full 5lt.. still no sight of oil in the glass. Where did it go? Hyanes says the following: Oil change - 3.7lt Oil and filter - 3.9lt Full engine overhaul dry engine - 4.1 Apparently mine just has a parallel universe residing in the sump or something?!?! |
Before you refill it you need to reinsert the drain plug.:eek:
Mine's never needed more than about 4.5qt w/ filter change. |
Should take the stated amount of oil as per the manual you have.
Hate to ask but did you attach the oil filter and replaced the plug? You have added way to much oil and is not good if you try to run it that way. NM Wolverine beat me to it took to long to type :) |
Maybe you went right by the sight-glass and never saw the oil level. You have the bike up straight when viewing the level, right?
|
Umm is it still on the race stand instead of tires?

5L is too much .. period.
If you have the bike level or at least straight up (like even on a rear stand) .. at 5 full L... you likely have filed above and past the full height of the site window. |
Agreed

Doesn't help the garage is dimly lit which aided in thinking nice clean oil was general glass discolouration. Problem solved.. but cheers for all the suggestions guys.. |
