high rpm problem

ok... here is the problem i am having my bike runs great from 1000 rpm to about 8500 rpm then it seems like it just dies and comes back on like it runs out of gas, kinta lurches on and off it dosnt pull smoothley to redline.. my carb settings are... factory 1.1 kit 190 rear 188 front 50 pilot needles are second position from the bottom im pretty mutch a sea level. my engine set up is... k&n filter ( no oil ) +4 ign advancer yoshimura stage 1 cams and twobros slip ons.. the bike has been doing this for a while i just cant seem to figure it out.. so i am looking for some opinions...

Ummm are you sure that youre not just hitting the rev limiter?

DRIVEN2MADNESS 08-05-2007 10:50 AM

no the rev limmiter is at 10500 the problem starts at 8500.. im thinking the float level is too low...

Sounds to me like a lean problem. Looking at your setup I think your settings are for stock cams, etc. I don't think the float is the problem but could be jets and needle.

it did the same thing with the stock cams too..

to me it seems like the bike is burning all the fuel out of the float boal then the float drops and re fills the boal and the bike picks up again... i had the carbs apart today and everything is clean and the floats move freeley

mine does the same thing...usually only when I am going over 60. Feels like its sputtering and wants to die. Did you ever figure out what was causing it?
