Help!!!

I was riding on the highway yesterday and all of a sudden the engine over revved. I couldn't get a gear and no power to the rear wheel. I pulled over and discovered I lost my chain. The engine was running fine. My problem now is I can't find neutral. The rear wheel never locked up I was doing 70. Has this ever happened to anyone? And does the chain missing affect the gears

Move the front sprocket while operating the shifter.

But NOT while the bike is running......

I have lost a couple chains. Put on a new one and move on with your life. No big deal.

When you get a new chain, DO NOT get a clip type master link. Only get the rivit type master link.

Sounds like you are very new to this stuff. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Yes I would agree since I have read about DIY chain jobs by inexperienced riders going bad and getting caught up in the works, causing serious bike damage.

As far as the "can't find neutral problem" perhaps the OP is expecting the sprocket to stop turning without a chain with engine running. This would require a bit of resistance on the drive sprocket, such as a chain connected, right?

It's quite simple, put a chain on it. If there are problems after that, we can address them. Simple.

Thanks I just put on the new chain. Went for a ride and all is great. How much play should there be in the chain.

Exactly what the owners manual says.
