headlight problems

Tonight I was riding home from work and I noticed that the headlight ( well actually all of the lights ) on my bike was flickering . It wouldnt change with engine speed but just sort of whenever it felt like it I guess . The lights would go dim for a few seconds and then go back to normal . I put a charging tester on my battery and it shows that the alternator is doing its job . So I am a bit stumped , do the superhawks have a external voltage regulator or something that would be causing this , is this normal or am I loosing my mind ????? Keep in mind that I work on cars constantly and I only dabble in bikes . I let my honda dealer do all the real messy stuff . Any Ideas ???

Re: headlight problems

Sounds as though your rectifier/regulator is on its way out. I replaced mine with a late model VFR 800 unit which is much heavier duty and ribbed for better heat dispersion. I ordered mine from Dynamo Humm at www.dynamohumm.com These guys are very knowledgeable about VTRs.

cheers
