Frame Swingarm strengthener |
I've heard of it. Never seen one. It ties the swingarm to the frame.

I've been looking for a set like that to copy and make for others (as well as myself of course!). Do you have these parts? If so, coupld I borrow them for a couple of weeks?

One other thing, does anyone know where you can get a set of these parts? I saw something similar in Performance Bikes back in '97 but haven't been able to find a place that sells them since. Thanks!

Re: Has anyone ever saw this on a VTR?
Looks like it can be used as an attachment point for rearsets too!
Maybe you could use the cheaper & more readily avaliable rearsets & save some $$$ |

Jamie Daugherty http://members.iquest.net/~daugherj Will those VF1000F triple clamps work on the Superhawk???? They look incredably strong!!! |
Re: Has anyone ever saw this on a VTR?
Actaully, they would work but the trail figures are slightly different. You'd be surprised at how consistent Honda's been with their design over the years. It makes swapping parts from newer bikes to the older VF's easier than you might think.
One of these days I'm going to be making a set of triples for the VTR. I'll let you guys know when they are ready. Jamie Daugherty http://members.iquest.net/~daugherj |
Re: Has anyone ever saw this on a VTR?
I wonder if it is less trail or more.
If memory serves me correctly less trail = faster steering more trail = slower steering ....right? |
I think it's the other way around. The closer the forks are to being inline with the steering stem the larger the trail figure. I think that offest is less on the VTR than it is on the VF's, which would create more trail. More trail and less rake makes for quick steering but can result in stability issues if gone too far.

So, does anyone know where I get a set of these? I've done some searching on the web with no results. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Has anyone ever saw this on a VTR?
Does it actually need it though? How much flex can there be in our already reinforced engine casing?

Lots. You only feel it when riding hard (like on the racetrack). It really limits how well the rear suspension can work. I find that mine winds up on me quite a bit, even on the street. Track riding only makes things worse.
It looks like I have to go about this the hard way, trial and error. Hopefully I only have to prototype a couple of times before I get it right. Jamie Daugherty http://members.iquest.net/~daugherj |
