Handle Bar Swap...

Hey guys how difficult is it to swap the handle bars, my brother left me with two brand new ones. My biggest concern is running the throttle and brake lines. How difficult would this swap be. Any suggestions? Thanks Josh

You need to supply details - swap on new clipons? VTR? VFR? Heli? Superbike bars? Search CLIPONS. You will find all you need to know.

Its a VFR 994. Its the entire hadle bar assembly. LIke the clutch and brake resavoirs, turn signal headlight switches, pretty much everything. It looks like I just undo a bolt and they slide off the top of the forks. My concern was the clutch and brake cables.

Your not going to get much here - this is a specific Superhawk forum, not general bike maintenance. Generally Clipons slide off and clutch, brake and controls just unscrew apart. You need to find the VFR forum to lern if there are any special problems

Or am I misunderstanding and he left you a set of VFR bars for your VTR? If so they transfer over easily with the exception of the brake line length to the splitter. You will need to un bolt the splitter for the short term. Longer term you need to replace the lines with steel.
Once again - search CLIPONS. All you need has been laid out almost step by step

I figured it out and installed them tonight, pretty damn proud of myself too. The throttle cable was the biggest bitch of it all. I build custom trucks and know nothing about bikes so its all new to me...
