Handle Bar Pinch Bolt - Torque?
 

Just fitting the original Clipons back on my bike, and I can't see any reference in the workshop manual to a torque setting for the Handle Bar Pinch Bolts.

(The socket head allen screws that hold the clipons to the forks)

Seems odd, as this is obviously an important item, and they even list torque settting for the bar end weights and calipur mounts but not the bolts that hold the handlebars onto the bike.

Anyone, perhaps have a different manual that might list this setting?

I don't see it anywhere. If it's an 8mm, I'd probably go with 23 N-m. Same as the torque spec for my 90VFR handlebar pinch bolts.

It has been recommended that you tighten to the point where you can jerk on the clip-on and it won't move, but if you give it a decent tap with a rubber mallet it will. That method should be safe and help prevent bending the clip-on or fork tube in the event the bike is dropped.

I had a chat to the guy who I bought the bike from, and he told me it should be 19Nm.

I had already done it up by hand (with allen key) and I was not far off this figure actually.

To be honest, with the keyway piece which locks into the top yolk, and all your weight pressing down onto the bars I don't suppose it needs doing up silly tight.

I've spend the day putting the original bars back on, which took longer than it should have done really. (Slow worker, but like to get things right)

Just waiting for my 43 tooth rear sprocket to arrive in the post now :)
