Getting No Fuel
 

I just completed an OEM to APE CCT conversion. That part went well (I think). I started the engine and ran it briefly before buttoning up and heard no scary sounds. Once I got the fuel tank on I was going to warm it up at idle speed to see if I could detect any cam chain slap and then adjust as necessary. It initially started and ran like it was fuel starved and now it won't start. So, I believe that I have created a fuel supply problem. The only possible problems I can think of are:

1) the vacuum hose to the petcock got disconnected at the engine (where does it connect at the engine?) as I was disassembling the bike
2) the petcock, which appears to have a on/off valve that I can't find any info abut in the service manual, is screw up. I turned the petcock valve to what I thought was OFF when I removed the tank and I turned it back on after installing the tank.

What else could be messing up fuel delivery to the carbs--yep, there is fuel in the tank.

The vacuum line from the petcock goes to a fitting in the rear cylinder. It looks just like the one on the front cylinder that you use to sync the carbs.

Also where did you hook up the line on the petcock when you put it all back together?

Well, I have not figured out what "PVLIR" stands for but I know what it means. It means that I missed connecting the 5th hose to the rear of the petcock. The Drew C14's attached photo helped. As it turns out, I also photo'd the undertank before disconnecting all hoses. My digicam is old and has only a 1.5" display and I missed this hose when reviewing that display. When I downloaded photos to laptop and then zoomed in on the petcock I could also see the 5th hose.

that rubbery plastic flap, is it necessary? mine is gone. I can only think that its to keep anything from draining out of the petcock to directly below it, perhaps its bad to drip there.

It's to stop fuel leaking directly onto the rear cylinder with obvious consequences....
