Gear Indicators
 

Any suggestions on a good gear position indicator? I couldn't tell you haw many times i have tried to shift into seventh gear. I guess I get happy and want to keep going. Must be the torque, kind of like adrenaline, you get a taste and want more.

Do a search. I just pulled up a company in England HPS who sells several units. The Acumen looks good. I thought about adding one but never followed through.

Heard good things about the Acumen. MCN did a review a while back and liked it. No personal experince, though.
Have you seen the new heads up display available for helmets? Gear indicator, with speed and revs I believe. Really trick.

Do you have the web site for the heads up display? My friend has one which works prity well he also did a info for the company that made it. Don't know if its the same as your looking at.

I read a review on that piece awhile ago. They said while it seemed like a gimmick, once they adapted to using it and got used to it, thought it was one of the best devices going. It does sort of stick out there, but they didn't comment on vibration or additional wind noise. Cant remember where I read it, probaly motorcylist or sportrider.

That is too cool. Did notice that they are no longer making it though. Wonder what the next one will be.

Ride your bike more!:lol: No really...I was the same way until after putting a few thousand miles on the bike, I can look at the speedo and tach and know what gear I'm in. Indicator would be neat, though!

Put over 40000 miles on it and you'll know how fast you're going and what gear you're in just by the sound and feel! :mrgreen:

Already put over four thousand miles on since March 07. It is easy to look at the tach and speedo and tell which gear I'm in as well. Just looking into options and seeing whats on the market. Would make life easier around town though.

Why would you ever try to shift to 7th.

Hell fourth gear is all you need, I rarely get into 5th and never ever run 6th unless on a high speed track day striaght or almost to the RED light of death and needing to save fuel.

3rd and 4th are the primary sport gear on the super chicken

There are a few roads around that have some really long straight's that get a little too tempting sometimes. I agree that third and fourth are the sporting gears for the hawk, but those loooooong straights call for a little more sometimes.:wootwoot:

Yeah 4th gear is one that probably gets the most use but I use 6th gear for just cruising.

Ride your bike a lot and you will get to learn the feel of it. No gear indicator needed.

Whenever I ride on the back roads I use 4th and 5th, about 50/50. Use 6th alot too.....I sure as hell wouldn't mind a 7th gear. :twisted:

Why shift into 7th if you can't redline in 6th? The only time I shift into 7th is on the dyno. In MX I always knew which gear I was in but on the street I got lazy, one of these do-dads would come in handy.
