Gauges died and then bike died - charging system?

Hi all. My bike died. Did it last summer and I replaced battery and the rest of the season was fine. Thinking the charging system. Any tips on how to efficiently test and repair?

Thanks
Torie

13 to 14 volts at idle across the battery posts using a volt meter is a what your looking for.
