gas leak ?????

hey whats up, its been a min. since ive been on, ive been working doing some drilling in carlsbad, nm.while i was gone my bike was getting worked on. my 98 superhark.... so i get it back and its leaking gas.. so under the tank is that pecock, on the pecock pointing down looks like a nipple thats where the leak is. if i remember correctly there used to be a hose there. now theres only two hoses that will fit there. one wraps around the bike and drains out under the bike , the other looks like it goes to a carb. can someone please tell me which hose needs to be on that that gas drip. thanks much appreciation.

Well, hose or no hose isn't the issue really... That nipple is the breather for the diaphragm in the petcock, and it should definetly not have gas coming out of it... The diaphragm in yours are damaged, by age or by a mechanic... You need to have the petcock rebuilt...

There is no hose that goes there. If it's leaking gas from that point is one of two things. It's really leaking gas from that nipple, or from somewere else on the petcock, and since that is the lowest point on the petcock, it look's like it's leaking from the nipple.
Try checking with a light if it's really from the nipple or not. If so, you may need a new petcock.
