fuel question

ok guys i want to check this with you

bike has its pair system removed.

there is a line coming off the rear cylinder, vacuum line this connects to the rear of the petcock i believe?

there is the front line coming off the carb, which used to go to the pair, its plugged.

the bike has A LOT of backfire, with a dj kit, running dj specs, 4th clip, 2.25 turns out.

am i missing something ? to me the way the bike is acting is an air leak somewhere....

suggestions/ideas??

cheers

180/185 2.25 turns out, jardine high mounts, stock filter, pair removed, etc......

just did a lil tweaking, did a lil sync on the carbs, prob seems better, will check again in the am when i can actually put load on it

FWIW

Spec on the pilot screws is 2.5 out on 49 state bikes, 2.75 on California models.

I'd double, triple quadruple check all the airlines involved in the PAIR removal... It's very easy to miss one, people have done it several times... Also the plugging might be leaking somewhere?

Other than that, like others have said try fiddling with the pilot screw... Those big honking carbs are might picky sometimes... Getting it half right is easy... Getting it spot on takes some tinkering and a few curses usually...
