Fuel petcock question

OK, here is the fuel petcock under the VTR tank. It turns 180 degrees, and the top says OFF and the bottom says ON.

My question is, which way is which?? If I want the fuel turned ON, should it go clockwise, or the other way??

If I was home I would go check for you, took me 30min last time to figure this out myself... Anyway make sure to hook the vacuum line up to te correct port otherwise it won't matter.

Yeah, that's going to be challenging... I took the tank off and the airbox lid before I realized how far into the woods I was.

What is the end goal? Usually the petcock is left on the tank for most things.

Yeah, I realized there was old fuel in the tank, and I had it off the bike already. Couldn't get it to pour out the fuel cap, so I unbolted the petcock assembly to drain it.

If it's in the off then turn anti clockwise to turn it on. It can only go one direction.

Well if it is still off the tank, then you could always look down into the rotating barrel and see when the opening closes, but I do believe that when you turn it the 8mm casting / nub on the front, it closes it. When you find out for sure mark it with a scribe or something equivalent so you don't run into the problem again.

When facing the dial... counterclockwise is on, clockwise is off.
