Front cylinder CCT & valve clearance check question.

I'm new the board and before I get to my question I wanted to thank everyone that has posted...I have found lots and lots of useful info. Thank you.

I have just developed what I belive is the begining of a CCT failure. I have a ticking like someone is tapping a pencil on my front cylinder. I ordered my APE tensioners. I plan on taking the valve covers when I do the CCT swap since I'm do for a clearance check anyway. Ive been through all the CCT posts and the rear cylinder looks pretty easy but I was wondering if anyone had any hints for the front, besides moving the oil cooler is their any any other tricks to make the job easier. looks like it might be tough to measure the clearance without taking the carbs and or radiators off.

Thanks for any advice.
