Fox shock recharge?
 

Hi all,

Just got my bike back from the shop after having the Fox double clicker installed. They mounted the canister on the left frame; in order to do so they discharged the nitrogen to move it around.

When they reinstalled it, they charged it to 200psi. All other parameters of the shock are setup for my weight.

Right now, the ride is plush with rebound set at 6. As I've never sat on a 'hawk with an aftermarket shock; are they supposed to be more comfortable than the stocker or do I need to charge up the shock more? I believe the range for the Fox is 200-300psi. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to rail on the bike to see if it's floaty or bouncy.

BTW, I get about an inch of sag when getting on the bike and I set the ride height 5MM taller than the stocker.

When I put on my aftermarket I also got about an inch or so of sag out of the box.... I adjusted the spring/sag setting, and now it's fine. Just because the shock is setup for your weight range, doens't mean it's adjusted on the bike for your weight/sag setting. Odds are you just need to adjust it, unless they told you they dialed it in on the bike for your weight after the install.

I bought it off of another member who had it set on his hawk for the same weight, so I'm assuming it's more or less where it needs to be. The threaded collar on the shock body is pretty far down the tube; it doesn't look like there's going to be a whole lot of travel left if I crank on a bunch more preload, which leads me to suspect that an extra 50psi in the canister may be correct.

BTW.... I could be off a bit on the numbers (Don't have my suggested suspension settings handy)... but I believe you want about 20-30mm (1" = 25.4mm) of sag on the rear. So if you have that 1", your good. I noticed there is a big difference from the stock shock where I had pretty much zero sag at the lowest preload setting. My aftermarket felt real soft, but in reality, it's the way it's supposed to work.
