Dude, you are absolutely and positively wrong in your evaluation. If you look at the header junction it's design to get the exhaust flow as nearly matched as possible. In fact if you look at the right side of the junction you will see that there is a protusion of another pipe, I forget which one. The point is if you were to remove it you would give up 5 horsepower in the midrange. I used to think it was just a manufacturing shortcut but it's not.
Short answer leave it alone!
