Do you guys think my clutch is fried?

Here is what's going on. If I clutch it in 2nd when the engine temp is cold, it comes right up. After the motor warms up, It will not come up in 2nd it will lift the front 2-3 inches and the clutch feels like it is slippin but the revs never go up. I bled it a month ago. The oil is Valvoline motorcycle oil.

Put in 6th and slow down to about 30-40 mph or so and roll it on and see what happens.

Bike accelerates? Clutch okay.

Motor accelerates but bike doesn't? Clutch not okay.

Good answer!

If rpm doesn't go up then you're not slippin'. Sounds to me like the bike is running rich. See, when the motor is cold, the air entering the motor is cooler, and thus more dense. Denser air requires more fuel. But it runs good when cold. As the motor heats up, the air entering the motor heats up as well. Hotter air is less dense. Less air requires less fuel. Now the same amount of fuel is going in, but less is required. Thus, you're running rich. A rich motor will not produce as much power, though it does combust at a lower temperature and is safer for valves. But too much fuel and you start washing the oil film off the cylinders. If you have a jet kit installed, try raising the clip on the needles 1 or 2 positions and probably go down one size on the mains.

I think you are right Greg. I will try that.

My bike seems to be running rich is there anything I can do, Im getting lots of back firing and flames on decel out my exhaust I have no clue if my bikes been jetted or not as its used anything I can do to check or help the problem....I read somewhere about turning up the idle???

There are less desirable alternatives to going inside the carburetors, like to try putting in a K&N filter. Who knows, that could solve the problem perfectly. But it's likely you'll benefit the most from tuning the carbs properly, like Hawkrider said.

And I hope I didn't lose any credibility by saying that was a good answer before. It was a good answer, just to a different problem... yeah.

Blurr,

Have you disabled PAIR? That system, combined with rich mixture, will give you what you describe. There is a thread on PAIR going on at the moment. I suggest you give it a look see.

How do you disable PAIR?
Where is it?
