Dead Battery
So last season my SH's batter started going dead once in a while. I thought it was just because the battery was old, so I replaced it. The next day that one was dead too. I checked all of the wires that looked like they could be shorting out and taped them but that did not work.
My friend owns a shop and said this guy has the same problem and it's his voltage regulator. Aparently the '98 model has this problem and he is going on his third. This time he is using an aftermarket regulator for an R-1. I'm waiting to see how it works. Has anyone else had this problem? |
The R/R is a common problem with the early model SH's. So don't worry you and your buddy are not only on this ones.

Tends to be a common failure item on honda bikes.. I performed the r1 r/r mod earlier this week on mine as my r/r had died and smoked the connector as well. Search for regulator rectifier in the search tab and you will find plenty of info.

Has anyone had any luck with an R-1 R/R?

I guess you are the one who gave Darryl the heads up on the R-1 Mod. How difficult is it to change?
|
hahaha that's funny actually yes I am! I told him to tell you about here. And look at that, we live in the same town! Not difficult at all to do. More than willing to help, you are close enough!
|
I might just give it to him. He's putting on new tires, anyway. I'm off of Fairway. Where are you at?
