Dang pilot screw has me pulling out my hair!

So I bought the 40dollar fancyass screwdriver from MotionPro, to adjust my pilot screws and find out they're goofy little D headed things and the MotionPro tool is a normal flat tip. How do you guys adjust those things? I had to scour the manual and use a dentists mirror just to find them. :x

Pull the carbs and dremel a slot on them for the motion pro tool.

Guess that's the only way......oh joy

We did mine by using dental tweezers and a bucket of patience to get them out. I slotted them with a THIN dremel cutter wheel. Works great. Carbs gotta come off, but that's not bad on this bike.

LOLOL..had to laugh at that last statement. I'm used to old British bikes...the carbs are right there in your face and two nuts each gets'em off.
Oh well.....once I do it, it'll be done...and I have the fancy screw driver to adjust'em with forever.

I can't help but jump in on this one - I tried to make a tool from 1/4" alum tube, flatten one side using needle nose screwdriver to do it. Tore hair out. Repeatedly. Not smart enough to steal dental tweezers, so I bent one side of a nail head-up(!), and it worked!

If you still have your Honda jets, etc in there, go to Radio Shack, get the assorted tiny washers for about 2 bucks, and shim your air needles(under the diaphragms) about .040. Be sure to measure the washers with the dial caliper you use when you resize your ammunition. (Hee Hee) The reason you want to do this now, is that way you won't have to take everything apart again and end up standing in a pool of gasoline (don't ask...).

Greg has explained this better than I ever could on other threads. Good luck!

motion pro also sells an adapter for the Dshaped screw - comes with one of their right angle screw drivers.
