Crazy starter stuck issue

So rode into Manhattan today In like 85* heat. Almost to Amsterdam billiards and the bike stalls. Ok so hit start. Everything kinda blanks out for a sec. Hit starter again and it spins but keeps spinning. Get to pool hall and it is still spinning like I'm holding the starter button.

But that's just the beginning.

Turn off bike and starter is STILL SPINNING.

Cant get it out of gear with motor spinning. Turn key back on and with a huge BOOM backfire bike starts again with starter still spinning. hit kill switch, bike dies but starter still goes. Heave to remove key, let it keep cranking and use key to remove seat for tools.

Now I pull the start ignition fuse. It kills the bike but STARTER IS STILL CRANKING! This is getting tiring and sweaty now so I have to lean bike against building since the stand will kill the motor again.
The only way I can stop it from cranking is to remove the neg battery connection!
Now what? I need to be here a few hours to play a big match so maybe if it cools down it will improve.?

It does not. Reconnect the net battery and it spins again.
MY PLAN.... To connect battery and let it crank again to start the bike, then remove the starter side connection on the solenoid & ride home (thru the midtown tunnel and over a skyway.. bad spots to get stuck.)
But before I do all this I think I may as well wack the solenoid with plier really hard to knock the contacts apart.
I do this, reconnect the battery and its NOT CRANKING. So I just ride home hoping it doesn't short again or bike doesn't stall.

Tomorrow I replace the solenoid.
Long story I know.
My team did win the 9 ball match and we stand to win $5k if we win again tomorrow. That would buy me a lot of bike parts.

Starter switch OR starter solenoid its as likely to be one as the other

Yeah Erik I believe solenoid since wacking it solved the prob. Swapping it now.
