Is the crankshaft cover righty-tighty lefty-loosey?
 

Or the opposite?

The bolt is stripped, and even with a set of grippy bits it will not come undone. I've tried applying heat, etc... Just want to get my bike running again. The one with the black bit in it ( its at an angle because that one stripped the bolt too ).

oof, that's pretty corroded. If the back end of the threaded hole is sealed (blind hole) then it's generally the corrosion between the underside of the head of the fastener and the case and not within the threads.

I've had good luck in the past by using a 6pt 10mm combination wrench, holding that firm on the fastener and rapping the opposite side with a ball peen hammer to break the friction.
A 6pt is important as it transfers more energy to the fastener head when the hammer hits it. Kinda like a manual impact.

But yeah, they are righty-tighty

The cap is made of cheese. A certain problem where it rains a lot and salt is used in winter. A small amount of anti seize on the under side of the cap where it interfaces with the case.

Thanks, I'll try taking the case cover off to attempt it again... I'm up to 12mm I think in terms of how stripped it is, and I think I have to go up again because the bolt extractor just went through it. I may just try a screw extractor with the cover off and punch a hole through it.

Unless there is a tool like the medieval torture device ( The pear? ) which was put into someones mouth and a knob turned to make it flower open - a tool like this to grip the inside of the bolt hole would probably be ideal.

Crude, but it works. A hammer and chisel. Of course you'll want a new one to replace.

I tried a chisel like a screwdriver on the exterior but that didn't do anything. I have a feeler out trying to buy one. I may just get one from the dealership.
