Clutch lever travel after taking front sprocket cover off.

Took that black metal cover off today to change my front sprocket.

Noted the metal rod that goes into the engine and the other end going into the cover (where the clutch mechanism is)

Now, I'm positive I did not touch the clutch lever during this procedure, but when it came to getting this cover back on it did not want to sit down all the way (like it was rocking on the metal clutch rod)

I got it within a few mm of seating down and gently and evenly screwed the allen bolts in to seat the cover down.

All appears to be back in place, but now the clutch seems odd.

Like it's biting point is right near the handlebar.

Errrr, so how do I deal with this?

Thanks.

No, not yet, that was my thought, but I'll have to wait till tomorrow to get some more fluid.

Actually, I just went out for a ride (bit iffy at 1st as the clutch was biting when the lever was almost right againt the handlebar.

Now I've come back from a short ride, it seems to have got better.

Will still bleed it tomorrow anyway.

Yeah, when you take the slave cylinder off, it tends to work its way out to the point of sucking all the fluid out of the reservoir and air into the line. The clutch is a bitch to bleed since the only pressure is that of the clutch springs, and it's hard to entrain the air all the way down. You have to be quiick about the process (squeeze, bleed, shut, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, refill). Sometimes easier with a second person.
