Clip ons to work with 954 swap?
 

I am looking to get some new clip on for my bike. I am tired of getting numb hands. I would like to get ones with adjustablity. They also have to work with a cbr954 fork set up. The stock 954 clip ons are raised but, they make my throttle cables rub my fairing. That problem needs to be fixed. I have checked out Gilles, V.3, Cycle cat, and others. But I need to know what works before I shell out the money. Anyone have a set up like mine feel free to let me know what you think.

Go to the 929/954 front end thread there are pics there of mine with heli bars all you have to do is angle the throttle cables.

don't know which route you wanna take, but i would think the TL1000 50 mm helibars would work also. . . and they appear to be "taller"

BTW, mine's at the shop for the 929 front end swap, they have a gixxer helibar kickin around and will try fitting those. . . got my fingers crossed.

vtromey you chickened out,:lol: I thought you were going to do this yourself? Oh well good luck with the results and the gixer bars but you're right the tl's are higher I just went for cheaper. :lol:

cockadoodledoo!! :oops: :lol: nah man, i can only do oil changes! :lol: sad, i know. . . but if i had someone with the patience to show and teach i'd be sooo up for it! i definitely want and need to go cheaper, the gixer bars are already there. . . but if they don't work, i might be forced to bite the bullet and order me up a pair of TL1000 helibars (well relatively they're cheaper than the gilles and two bros V3's) . i think the extra bit of height will do the trick. . . or i'll just saw off the upper part of the fairing :shock: :lol:

If I wasn't on the oppisite end of North America I'd help you out, but it really wasn't that hard. If you believe that I've got some swamp land for sale.:lol: No really it wasn't that bad and you could've save big on labor. Get your bike back load it up and make the 1700 mile trek down to FLA. you canucks usually start coming down soon anyway.:lol:

Might I suggest a superbike bar kit? I think it would greatly increase your choices on height and negate clearance issues. I know that the 954 upper is a gull wing design so the riser's base would need to be machined to match but that's not a big deal. IIRC, the 929 and RC51 have traditional uppers.

You might. :lol: Although, I thought the 929 had the same type as the 954, but you are correct on the rc51 triple. I thought about that as well but I was actually looking for a little more aggressive "feel" than stock. But I've seen yours and others and they do look nice. One of these days we need to sit down and have a mod war it'd be fun to see that long list of the combined mods.

Yeah, the 929 upper is also gull wing but it will still work with superbike bar kits. Here's Kai Ju's version on his naked VTR.
