Chain and sprocket

Its almost time for a new chain and sprockets and was wondering what gearing and brand of chain most people are running.

Thanks

16/41 is stock .... I like 16/43 and use Sunstar brand sprockets

FWIW , DID makes an X-Ring chain thats the exact chain that comes on the SH's from the factory . That is a really nice chain IMO .

since we're on the topic, does anyone know if specific year cbr900rr sprockets are the same as the superhawk's? I'm looking into good prices for a 520 conversion but don't always find the superhawk listed, but most other honda models.

or any other models that might be interchangeable.

OK, to answer my own question,,, yes, but it was the 929 sprockets that the guy cross-referenced and ordered for me. So a 520conversion is on the way. The chain is a RK rated at 8,800 tensile strength, suitable for 1000cc machinery, and for now I went with stock gearing, I'll get a two up for the rear in a little bit. Chain is gold and purrrrdy. The color alone should be good for 5hp ;-)

Re: Chain and sprocket

I went with the Vortex 520 conversion kit, one-tooth-down on the front sprocket, two-teeth-up on the rear sprocket. I've used three brands of 520-conversion chain that I consider to be top-flight and almost interchangable--for most practical applications, at least: Regina gold x-ring (arguably the best of the three), DID gold x-ring (arguably very close in quality to the Regina), and IK gold x-ring (a very close third place).

cheers,

...Er, the would be "EK"--not "IK"--gold x-ring. (Freudian slip, as I use "IK" Multi-Media pro audio mixing software. :)

cheers,

Thanks for the feedback... I'll let you all know how the RK GXW works out.
