CCT Replacement
 

Oil changes, air filters, brake jobs, these are all things i can do no problem. When it comes to CCT's i am a little over my head. If i were to buy some APE CCT's and brought them to a shop what am i looking at price wise? with all the horror stories here i figure i should probably get this done.

Best bet would be to have them put in when the valve are due for service/checking... as the labor for adding the CCT's in when doing the valves should be minimal.

If the shop is resonable that as, but never hurts to ask, I would say it should not be more than an extra hour of labor

i had the valves done 2000mi ago so that is out. they said the CCT's were fine but i would be replacing them as a piece of mind thing

What is your past mechanical expeirence? They are really not that hard to replace. In fact, to me, getting to them was the hardest part. Replacing them once I was there was cake.

Just don't skip the step of getting the engine to TDC and you shouldn't have problems.. (it'll probably take a few hours on your own though)

But if you pay to have it done, I would guess around an hours labor + parts

To give you a $$ idea( shops vary city to city but are usually the about the same on price within each city )
At my shop we would charge you 3 hours on cam chain tensioner, 4 hours for valve adjustment, and if you gave us the CCT to install during the valve adjustment, it would be free.
Labor is $95.00 an hour, about par for dallas area honda shops.
