CBR vs RC51 front wheel

Does anyone know if cbr 929 wheels fit (without mods) an rc51? Thanks Hawkers.

you should search over at speedzilla site in the rc forum. im sure its a common question as to which wheels swap in from what models , brakes etc
very knowledgeable group too

No not without mods, the rotors are a different dia and so is the axle/bearings. That said I think the rotors have the same bolt pattern and you could change the bearings but you would have to change the collar and it would have some slop in it when it's apart.

how about 929/954 wheels fitting a cbr1000 fork??

OK If you are going to use the 929 wheel on a RC front end here is the recipe!

929 wheel
RC-51 wheel bearings
RC-51 dust seals
929 inner wheel bearing spacer
RC-51 axle
RC-51 wheel spacers

Now when you put the whole thing together the rotors are not going to line up with the calipers do to the fact that the right wheel spacer is to thick! If you look at the axle on the left side do you see that little line on it?? If so that line should be flush with the fork leg! So what you do is take a set of calipers and use the depth gauge portion that hangs out the end and measure how far it needs to be moved into the the right (towards the wheel) Now lock that measurement down and take the calipers and the right wheel spacer to your favorite machine shop! This cost me 5 bucks!

If you try and use the RC-51 axle spacer you will discover that it is to narrow and you will end up destroying a set of wheel bearings! Yes this is from personal experience! The difference between the 2 spacers is more than likely what you will end up machining off of the right wheel spacer! It is not much about the thickness of two washers but it makes it so that the brake calipers do not line up properly.

I just did a 2 day track school in Pahrump NV with Jason Pridmores Star school and it was fantastic and worth the effort.

Good Luck Super
