Carbs on a angle? DO I FEEL DUMB!

Should the carbs be on a angle? I am having a heck of a time getting the throttle support on the carb to line up to rebolt it back on????????

yes the carbs are crooked. The v twin intake ports dont line up because off the offset heads.

I thought that, but I second guess myself as usual and fruck something up usually.

I remember having a similar problem when trying to put mine on. the rubber boots were loose and may have allowed the carbs to sit at a slightly different position. when I put it back together, I pushed them down into the rubber mounts and tightened the clamps and then bent the support a little to get it to fit. Probably, if you tighten the rubbers after hooking the throttle bracket, we wouldn't have had the problem, maybe?

oh yeah! don't worry about feeling dumb, your feelings are likely accurate. The reality of it is that were all pretty dumb, it just that most of us don't know it.

thanks, Nathan

Ive had my carbs on and off at least 50 times in the past few weeks.

I keep the carb boots attached to the heads. Put the front carb throught in the front boot.

Push the assembly as a whole forward a tad, 1/4 inch at most.

Then push the rear carb down. Pushing it forward lines up the angled boots.

50 times in a few weeks. WTH! you'll be the first person to wear out his carbs without going anywhere and with the best fuel mileage to boot. you're not OCD are you?

with that much machine-gun repetition, who's gonna argue! you're are the man!

It takes me hours just to get the carbs off and on. I better start taking shit off and putting it back on again, but not now, cause it's supposed to get into the high 50's tomorrow and i need to roll. :)

The first time I pulled the carbs on the VTR took me an hour or two. Now I can change out jets and/or needles and have it back together usually within the hour, start to finish. I will say the VTR is easier, although more complicated, than the VTX which took me to school tonight because an extra 1" of tubing would have just been TOO much for the factory to put on so you could re-attach the airbox easier...
