Carbs on a angle? DO I FEEL DUMB!
Should the carbs be on a angle? I am having a heck of a time getting the throttle support on the carb to line up to rebolt it back on????????

yes the carbs are crooked. The v twin intake ports dont line up because off the offset heads.

I thought that, but I second guess myself as usual and fruck something up usually.

oh yeah! don't worry about feeling dumb, your feelings are likely accurate. The reality of it is that were all pretty dumb, it just that most of us don't know it. thanks, Nathan |
Ive had my carbs on and off at least 50 times in the past few weeks.
I keep the carb boots attached to the heads. Put the front carb throught in the front boot. Push the assembly as a whole forward a tad, 1/4 inch at most. Then push the rear carb down. Pushing it forward lines up the angled boots. |

The first time I pulled the carbs on the VTR took me an hour or two. Now I can change out jets and/or needles and have it back together usually within the hour, start to finish. I will say the VTR is easier, although more complicated, than the VTX which took me to school tonight because an extra 1" of tubing would have just been TOO much for the factory to put on so you could re-attach the airbox easier...
