Carbon fiber front fended with integrated fork brace

Since I'm on a carbon fiber kick right now thinking I may try and make my own carbon fiber front fender with some extra layers across the top to turn it into a fork brace. Mounting will be the same as current fender mounts onto the forks. It would allow me to keep the front fork guards. Anythoughts opinions good or bad idea

I don't think you'll be able to lay up enough CF to really gain any benefit.

TBH, that very idea has crossed my mind before and I have often wondered why it hasn`t already been done. While, as RWhisen stated, it may not do a hell of a lot, it surely can`t hurt (any stiffness it adds is a bonus IMO).

cheers

My guess is that the mounting points are too low on the fork. Assuming you carry the extra thickness all the way down to the bolts, you' still creating a U shaped front profile that will likely flex enough to negate any possible bracing benefit.

Why not make an alu clamp, and then lay the CF on that?
