Carb queston

Most of you know that I'm looking for a SH to buy.

Found an 02 for $2500 the ad states "but one carburator is overflowing at idle."

This says to me that the float is probably stuck or dirty, at least based on experience with my enduro. A little tap to the float bowl, no more leaking.

Have you all found this to be true on the SH, a leaky carb has a stuck float?

If that's all it is, it lessens my worries about this bike.

Thanks.

You would most likley have yto pull the carbs out and clean the needle and seat... and since you got them out might as well go through them all the way.

I found tapping on float bowls sometimes will work for stuck floats but they stick over and over again.

an 02 for that much is a steal, I think

carb rebuilds are easy!

I'd take it and run... carb rebuilds are easy like others have said...

Sounds like a good deal. But be careful, he might not have taken good care of the bike. Check it real good and see what else might be wrong before handing over any money.

I think the guy sounds pretty straight about the problem but the price is very right. It looks good in the ad - must be a fire sale up there in the NE for Superhawks. You see the 99 for sale here for $3800? Your seller is just tired of a boat-anchor and wants it out of the garage. Yeah it's a little fucked up but he doesn't want to deal with it.

If it's half as good as the pic's and the description it's still a good price...

Needs same tender loving thoo...:) So some skills with tools is needed...

Nuhawk, you don't know how right you are. There is one in NJ, claims he has a RC-51 front end on it. If I include NYC and NJ, there are no less than 10 SHs for sale. This one is in my price range.

Tweety, I have some skills with the tools, and I learn new ones all the time.

Gotta call him and make sure it is available.

Thanks for the help.

Heh, as for me, when I first bought a hawk I relied on a service manual, blind luck and the fact that I really didn't know how much it was involved in ripping it apart...:)

But by now I have taken mine apart completely once and then in portions a couple of tmes...:)
There is tremendous knowledge here, and equal willingnes to help... a great resource...

And as for me it doesn't look like I have learned my lesson yet as I'm about to start another project...:) (I blame Greg, Icebud and others for this one...:bitchslap: They made me do it... promise...:kneel:)
