Carb cleaning???

Hi guys...
I have to go in this weekend and take the carbys off. I want to check and see what jets are in there (PO said Factory Kit), and slot the pilot screws so I can adjust'em. Figger I should clean them while I'm at it.......any tips? What NOT to do?
Complete disassembly or just spray with cleaner and done?
20K on her so....

A lot of people swear by "Yamaha Carburetor Cleaner". SOME Yamaha dealers have it, usually for 8 or 9 bucks a quart.

I used it on '83 Interceptor carbs which had been sitting for years with what had formerly been gasoline in the float bowls.

After a half day's soak they were as clean as the day they left the factory.

make sure you get the gaskets before taking it apart.

my carbs are sitting on my table as we speak.

Thanks Anto...didn't think of that. You mean they don't come with rubber rings in grooves? I'll look in the manual.......

get the yamaha combustion chamber cleaner, takes everything off with just a little rubbing if you are impatient, otherwise spray and wait. It gets varnish off easily.

The rubber formed o-rings should stay in their channels. If not you can dab some gasket sealer on them to keep them in place.

This might be too late but if you pull the emulsion tubes to clean them you have to keep track of which carb they go in as the front and rear are different. I think the factory jet kit site still have pics of which one goes in which carb.
