how can i lift my bike without a stand
k I want to put my new sprockets on this weekend. Problem is I dont have a swingarm motorcycle stand and the only harbor freight anywhere close doesnt have them. I have a floor jack and an engine hoist and welder that i can possibly fab something up with. I ordered the stand but it doesnt help me this weekend. Anyone have any ideas how i can lift the bike to remove the sprockets?

I've used the bottle jack to change the rear sprocket, change a tire and clean/lube the chain a bunch of times. Just make sure the bottle jack has a "U" shaped head so the bike doesn't slip off and fall over.

I put eye bolts in the rafters of my garage and i use ratchet straps. properly placed i have lifted the entire bike off of the ground no problem. Just be careful because they release quickly upon let down. Anyone think a harbor freight lift is worth the money for moderate wrenching at home?

I use a Ratchet Strap and two Tie Down to support the load from two EYE Bolts in the overhead. The Floor jack is just added for additional fluff really.
The ratchet strap to left and then tighten the tie straps for safety.
Use on either side to change tires or cleaning.

Inexpensive workstand
Take a look at this thread for what I used to use before I had a lift.
