Camera mount locations less vibration?
 

I have an Emerson HD action cam, I first mounted it on the mirror stem. When I give it gas all the vibration from the engine and road goes straight to the camera and its hard to make anything out. So I bought a gas tank mount which seems to be better but still has a lot of vibration in the video. Ive only tried these at night and hoping that has something to do with it. Its definatly not near as steady as any of the videos Ive seen on here or on youtube. Are you all using some sort of extentions or rubber mounts on your all's video cameras?

I have had the same issue with my GoPro system. I tried the mounting it on the windscreen with the suction cup mount, custom made 3rd eye bracket, and tank mount, but all of these are the same result. I know the helmet mount is the smoothest but I want to experiment with a mount on either axel or maybe under the seat / passenger rear set mount.

I'm hoping were just going something wrong. I didn't really see any night time videos on YouTube, but I'm hoping we can just mount these things on rubber

My GoPro is mounted on a plastic plate that replaces the lens of the "third eye". By far the best spot of the multiples that I've tried.

+1. The helmet is so calm and flawless, plus you get to see the road ahead and enjoy it other than the stationary view from the bike.

A couple of tips regarding go-pro mounting, if you don't already do this.
I use a 1" piece of electrical tape over center rib of female mount. Tightens the fit.
In addition, use the white rubber isolator that came with your go-pro that fits between the male and female mounts. Reduces slop between the fittings. It took me a while just to figure out what it was used for. Doh.

I really like the helmet cam shots, but I just know that would do that one time.... Take my helmet off and it would be gone. Really good video on the 3rd eye mount. I think looking thru the sun screen is always going to be blocked by the fairings and some reflection from the screen itself. Even the clear ones, the shots are good, but the 3rd eye mount it what I'm interested in. I'm not all about trying to show my buddies I can get my speedo farther than them

One of the guys on vtr1000.org posted some footage of various camera angles he uses with his GoPro.

May give you some ideas.

I place my gopro mount on the windshield as low as i was able and I find it not that bad especially on your roads:D

And not a single moose ;) some lovely roads you have there. I like the camera position. Nice not to see parts of the bike.
