Brake Master Part ID

What is it?
This came out of the reservoir from a 03 954. It was under the rubber anti cavitation piece. I don't think it is suppose to be in there with the rubber piece as it was distorting the rubber. Looks like it is ment to perform the asme function, but....

That is meant to be in there, described in the parts fiche as "Float". From the top down you should have the cap, white plastic diaphragm plate, the rubber diaphragm, then the float. Not unusual for the diaphragm to be distorted this happens when the fluid level is sucked down.

Thanks. I didn't think to look at the part fich. The thing that has me wondering is that the rubber diaphragm bottoms out on the "float" causing it to become distorted. This is with test fitting with a dry reservoir.
The fich shows the diaphragm as the same on multiple yrs/models, but the float isn't used on all the same yrs/models.
I'm guessing detail changes in sub parts.
