Bikes dead please help!

Today I got my new 1998 Superhawk out and took it for a spin. This is the first time i've ever road it or even road a Superhawk in general. I loved it. power is amazing. Im 17 years old and i took out a loan to purchase this and when i was riding it just died on me. The all the gauges and lights and the motor just cut out when i was rolling up to a stop sign. i stop and pushed it off to the side and tried to turn the key off take it out put it back in and turn it and nothing. Nothing appears. Previous to this i had to put it on a charger before i took it out to give it a bit of juice to start it. Does any body know whats wrong?

Sounds like the main fuse went. It is not in the fuse box but under the rear cowl on the left side by the starter relay.

Now for why it happened, it sounds like the R\R is bad or on the way out.

Oh and its rode the bike on the road......

Most likely what Hawk said. But make sure to check the battery cables for tightness too.

I agree, dont panic, if it was running fine, then just quit, its not something major. I wanna say just the regulator rectifier (RR) since what that does is regulate charging of the bike & battery.

Do a search for that topic on here and there is TONS of info. They are pretty easy to buy & change out, you can get em on ebay that plug right in or use one from an R1 but that needs modification.

I would figure $80ish for the RR and usually a new battery too but you may be lucky & not need the batt (though I doubt it).

+1 on checking first for loose battery connection.

Failing that replace stock R/R whatever, as it is a known to regularly fail.
