Bike is dead

Hello my name is Robert and I need some help. I know this might have been discussed before, but I cant find my exact problem. I went to get gas one day and the bike was running great. After I got gas I went into the store came back out and my bike wouldn't start. The lights and gauges will cut on, but that's it. No noise or nothing. I have no idea on what it can be. Thanks

There's a Service Manual available in the Knowledge Base. Section 21 deals with troubleshooting. There's also a good diagnostic chart at http://www.electrosport.com/media/pd...ng-diagram.pdf. You'll need a multimeter. Other people here will help you if you post more information.

Thanks for the reply. The bike is a 1998 it has a night rod headlight and aftermarket gauges and its been running strong. I did have a problem with the it cutting off when I put it in first gear, but it no longer does it. When I turn the key, the gauges and headlight cuts on, but nothing else. The neutral light also comes on and I cant get it out of neutral when I try to change gears.

Try replacing the neutral switch

Why would this switch be the problem?

Just to clarify. The dash DOES turn on? The bike tries to start or doesnt. I got confused by you saying the power cuts which is off but then say on.

If its the neutral switch.... It will crank/ start with the clutch pulled in

But not if the wimpy little clutch plugs worked free like mine always do. Could be just the neutral switches connections since they arent hugely prone to failure.
