airbox, where does it breath ???
How does a VTR breath with a snorkel without any hole down ?
Does the VTR takes warm air thats flows between the engine and airbox ? http://perso.wanadoo.fr/roadrun/Moto/VTR/airbox.jpg Is this a normal configuration ? |
Re: airbox, where does it breath ???
Yeah its a normal configuration...believe it or not.
I guess the developers at honda discovered something that we dont quite know. And I think that was those 2 huge carbs sitting underneath the air box require a shit load of fuel to make the hawk run the way she does, so why give it any more air when all that would have to happen is to give it more fuel. Shit...stock settings on the hawk are only good for 130 miles a tank. can you imagine what mileage would be if they developed ram air induction for the hawk? What honda needs to do is develop the fuel injection for the bike finally! Move towards the light honda! |

I have removed al little peace of plastic, place is showen on pic (was attached with 1 screw)

Re: airbox, where does it breath ???
It makes sense breathing cooler air but why honda techs decided to not open these plastics ?
venturi effect ? how do you remove the right piece ? |

Re: airbox, where does it breath ???
Seems that some australian models has a different configuration.... no plastic plate under the snorkel ...
Could you please tell me your configuration with your Year/Country model ? |
Re: airbox, where does it breath ???
have got an email from a canadian guy... He removed the two pieces but he replaced them because the performance was worse.
He tells me that these plastics are 'Heat Guard' that prevents to suck warm air ! Which is just the opposite we thought before .... |

I can't see any way from wich hot air can enter the way opened by absent plastics. Probably a little bit of warm air could be sucked at very low speed or at stationary bike, but in motion I think it's impossible. My VTR runs fine without those plastics. Ciao |
Re: airbox, where does it breath ???
Maybe it helps not to suck warm air at idle or low speeds (engine stalls ?)
Note that Honda part's name is "Heat guard" .... |
