4 degree advancer works well on '98

Went for a spirited ride....crisp running and feels like more power throughout the rev range, bottom to top. Bike is happy and "crackley" sounding, although I will have to readjust the idle and such. Next weekend.

was that the factory pro advancer plate?

Yep....more punch from idle to 9000. I needed to go into my carbs to slot the pilot screws and maybe richen the idle jets anyway so after that it's a full synch and pilot adjust and idle speed adjust. The advancer raised the idle a bit and now it drops from 1600 to idle very slowly. I'll check all vacuum hoses for cracks while I'm in there too.
Cheers

Hanging idle is either a vacuum leak or lean jetting.
