2004 Superhawk

Howdy...I've been a member of the forum for a few months but haven't posted much. I'm from Melbourne Australia and I bought a 2004 Hawk in North Carolina a few months ago. I haven't seen the bike yet but you might have seen a thread by Cheapbastard about riding the bike across the country to deliver it for me. I arrive in LA in about 6 weeks to ride it on a cross country trip of my own (and back).

Anyway....I have been searching the tech forums about problems that I might encounter and found lots of information about CCT's and R/R's. I have come to the conclusion (from my research) that the 2004 models have had these problems corrected with upgraded OEm equipment. Am I correct in these assumptions. The bike has 18,000 miles on it now and will have about 25,000 miles by the time I have crossed the country twice.

Are there any other issues I should be concerned about, or should I just ride it like I stole it.

Thanks in advance for your help.

The RR is better but still not "fixed". The CCT's seem to be still a problem; ie. a wear replacement item. AFAIK, about 20K-25K intervals. I'd put manuals on it now b4 running across the country...

there's is bound to be someone on this forum from Cali that would be willing to help you replace cct's before you go.

Legman,
I still haven't done my own CCTs with 30K on my own bike. But I've got a garage to work in, any tools you'll need for the job and free evenings to help out. I live in Sun City (92585) which isn't exactly LA, but you're welcome nonetheless. PM me if you're interested.

Thank for the very generous offer rhorsley. I'll be starting out from Moreno Valley which is not all that far from Sun City, but I doubt I will have time to undertake the works, so I guess I will cross my fingers and hope that the CCTs will be OK . I'll probably get replacement RR (R1/R6) as this I can swap out in 5 mins.

Thanks again for the offer of help.

Not a problem at all. Best of luck on your ride.
