2000 Firestorm not sparking on front cylinder
 

Hi Guys, after years of riding a Triumph i recently bought a 2000 firestorm as a fixer upper to use as a second bike!

Apologies for jumping straight in with a technical request but i am led to believe you honda guys are very welcoming! :)

The issue i have is it will not run! There is either no spark or if you are lucky when you press the starter you may get a single spark from the front cylinder. The back cylinder sparks every time without fail!

Here is what i have tried so far!

1. Switched front and rear coils, front coil fires fine on rear plug but still no spark to front!
2. Metered cable from igniter/converter unit to front coil and appears fine
3. Added independant earth to front coil to no avail
4. Split wires coming from ignitor/converter and switched trigger wires for coils between front and rear which transferred the fault so definitely not a wiring issue after the converter
5. Tried a different converter and ignition control module but the fault still exists.

When you turn the bike over with a plug in the lead to earth you get no spark, occasionally if you stop and start the starter button you may get a single spark from the front plug but thats it!

Any help would be greatly appreciated from you guys!

many thanks for the response and information. Downloaded the stuff and carried out the checks and voltages all ok.

Removed the plugs and turned it over and low and behold both pots spark so suspect it is slow turning over but unsure why!

I removed the plug on the genny cover and turned it with a socket and felt a bit rough so removed the starter and tried again and is much smoother although starter doesn't feel overly tight!

Any suggestions?
