2 into 1 exhaust
 

I am thinking of making a 2 into 1 exhaust then going under the rear seat with it, sort of similar to the cbrs. well what I need is the input from you. Any help will be greatly appreciated, any Ideas? Do I need the same length pipe from each head ecttttt? Heat shield? I dont know what effect 2-1 will have on torque HP ect....any tips or advice will be kindly appreciated.

i personally want a dual inlet muffler, and that will be i guess similar to 2-1??

Equal length is not good. The phase difference because of the 90° V causes you all kinds of fits. You need to configure the head pipe lengths based on what RPM you want to have be the peak torque point. It's a lot of calculations and theory. Because of the bends you can't calculate everything exactly (well, you can but it's REALLY complicated) so you always have to dyno tune after fabrication. Don't be surprised if it takes a couple of tries to get it right.

With all of that said, I've been thinking about making a 2-1 for my bike too. I just can't seem to find the time with all of the other projects I've going!

I've always thought the easiest way to do it is to cut the head pipe right before it makes the back part of the x,(if you're using stock head pipe). That way you're not messing with the front pipe lengths at all and just the back where Honda didn't do such a good job of keeping even pressure back there anyway. Use a larger diameter of pipe in the back to make up for not having the other side, go around the swingarm on the riders right up and over the wheel. Just my .02

Oh and of course dyno it and probably rejet but it might not be too far off with the larger pipe in the back.

I was going to do it and then I found an aftermarket pipe REALLY cheap and now it's not as easy and I have to re-think the whole thing! :evil:

yeah, i keep going back and forthe between using the jardines or finding something bigger and oval fit under seat a little flatter

i still dont know

but my new subframe is in the garage, and the bike is in about 10 pieces, so we'll see soon

stupid thought but how hard would it be to modify a rc51 hindle 2 into 1 to fit our bikes? I'd think the headers would fit relatively well and only issues might be toward the back. be easier then what a lot of you guys are thinking about unless it's just way way off... It is a high mount though so not undertail... Just a thought

I saw a build that one of the guys did on the Brit site where he came up just like the stockers but with both pipes and then went back through the subframe and out under the seat. It was really wild and a shitload of welding. I don't remember the URL but I will go look for it when I get a minute. I'm pretty sure each pipe went all the way to a box that fit under the tail subframe and exited approximately where the stock tail light is. The whole thing was fabricated from scratch but the guy had done a really admirable job.

I give up! My eyes are bleeding! I'm getting a lot of dead linked pages off their site so I will try again later. I did a search for "exhaust fabrication" and got in about 6 pages. Saw several links that I thought was it but they were all dead.

That bike is insane. I hate seeing stuff like that because just when I think I'm doing something cool I have to see stuff like that. HOWEVER after all that work WHY WOULD YOU PUT STOCK DUCATI MUFFLERS ON THERE??? (Are they that strict about noise regulations?) And why not turn them horizontal like God intended underseat mufflers. Man for a guy with a killer bike and killer skills the focal point of the whole thing is kinda weak...
