16k Service questions
 

I was just wondering how many people actually had the 16,000 mile service done at 16k. I've got 20k on my '98 and it seems fine. I do the oil, coolant, plugs, filters etc. myself and was curious how many people had to have the valves adjusted.
The price quote I got was just for inspection and would be additional clams if an adjustment was necessary. The tech I talked to said most bikes don't go out of adjustment until well into the twenties and sometimes much later. Is the SH one of these or does it get wacked out pretty quickly?
Also, who needed to have the stem bearings tightened? I do some wheelies, but nothing crazy. I propped the bike up on blocks so the front end was free and tried to wiggle it fore and aft with no really discernible movement so I suspect these should be ok, right?

From what I remember of people who actually had the 16k service done, almost zero of them actually needed an adjustment. Chances are those who did were probably out of spec since build.

Out of curiosity, roughly what were you quoted for inspection/adjusment?

It was 300 bucks for the whole service, I think. Not including any valve adjustments. I believe the guy said it would be an additional hour @ $69 per for each cylinder that needed to be tweaked.
