00 Hawk, No Spark
For all the electrical gurus out there, I have a 2000 Hawk. When I turn the key, all lights come on, it cranks just fine, but no spark on either cylinder. All fuses good. I need to get a multi meter before I dig into it.
I find it hard to believe both coils died at the same time, and the side stand light goes on and off when I move the stand, so I will check the kill switch first. Also, the R/R has been replaced a while ago. Are there any common ignition failures I should check out first? TIA. |
I don't recall anything common. The Ignition Pulse Generator would be my guess, but it could be **gulp** the uber expensive module. Get a multi and a shop manual and check it out.

I went through everything the shop manual said, and it all tested good. Looks like I'm stuck buying a converter and a module, the shop manual says they can't be tested.
Any one have a good set they want to part with? |
R/R

The sidestand switch has 2 output wires, one going to the dash indicator light and the other runs to the ICM. It is possible for the light to work properly AND the wrong signal being sent to the control module.

R/R was replaced with a finned one long ago.
Beerhunter, I'll recheck the sidestand switch to make sure both sides are good. Thanks. |
I've got both a ignition module and converter that I know are good I would be willing to sell. Just let me know if you end up needing them.
