Scorpion EXO-700

A friend of mine sent this email to Scorpion USA & all his friends:Good morningI just wanted to take the time and comment on your excellent helmet. I’ve been riding for the past 17 years and I’ve replaced my helmet every three years or so, give or take a few. In the past, the only helmet that suited me was the Arai Quantum because of the fit and finish of the product. And not to mention I had the misfortune of crash testing a few along the way. 17 years and over $2400.00 later, I came across your website and read very intensely the write-ups on your helmet. When I came across the report that you and Arai scored 5 stars I had to see this for myself.I recently purchased the EX-700 Fury and I’m 150% satisfied with my purchase. The fit and finish is equal to the Arai Quantum’s I’ve worn over the years, and I would say that the EX-700 is quieter than the Quantum. And let’s not mention the anti fogging shield! I’m currently stationed in Germany and I rode in with 41 degree weather this morning. I thought the anti fog was not working, but I soon realized that my eyeglasses were fogging and not the shield (ha ha). Over the years I’ve purchased a lot of motorcycle helmets, and this was the best $149.00 I’ve spent in a very long time. Even the $179.00 normal price is a great deal which I plan on spending on another Scorpion. That is unless your company wants to send me one for a hands on show and tell for the other military members in Germany…gloss black will due (smile). What’s the difference between the Arai and Scorpion Helmet? I would definitely say “over” $400.00, and that means a lot to me and the other riders I plan on forwarding this mail to.Riders, if you’re in the market for a new helmet, you owe it to yourself to give the scorpion a try. www.scorpionusa.com. They don’t ship to APO boxes, but www.helmetcity.com will, and they will match the sale prices on the scorpion web pageThanks in advance//SIGNED// ANTHONY E. IMO, the helmet could be lighter and the shield retention system does not feel like it has a positive lock when swapping shields.

But the price is really great.

This is not the first time I've heard about the shield rentention system. One guy had his shield fall off when his helmet fell from a table. Scorpion sent him a lame excuse, blaming Snell Standards.

This is a small problem that ought to be easily fixed. But it would keep me from buying one until it is.

The shields might fall off but they're a bitch to put on and they are the most expensive for anybody that sells a $150 helmet. I like the fit but I'm not sure I would buy another one.

I think the Arai shields are more pricey than any other helmet maker out there.

Maybe, but you're talking about an expensive helmet to begin with. My Scorpion can be had anyplace on the internet for $130 and the shield was $35.

I see what you're saying now. The ratio cost is pretty high for a shield. From what I had heard, though, the Arai shields were being outsourced to some other company, and the iridium coating would go dripping off if caught in any rain.

The EXO-700 scored pretty poorly in the Motorcyclist test, whatever that's worth to you. The cheaper EXO-400 actually scored bettr a transfer of g's, I'm still not complety sold on that article though.

+1

I don't care how well the Z1R scored. I will still stick by my Shoeis and Arais until I die.

Unless the Z1R comes with free head for life. Then I'll consider one...

If you go to their site they have a video of it but it won't be available until june according to our rep. I really like the flip down sun visor although they also already carry a photochromatic shield,(gets dark in the sun and clear in the dark), that works really well if you don't mind the $70 price tag.
